Is your firm well-managed?

I am delighted to once again to serve as a judge for the Managing Partners’ Forum Awards. The Forum created its annual Awards in 2002 to help leaders and management teams at professional firms demonstrate their vital contribution to the business in four critical areas: 

  • Leadership and strategy
  • The client journey
  • Operational excellence
  • Responsible business

As background, the FT/MPF Study into effective client-adviser relationships confirms that, when selecting an adviser, the impression of being a well-managed firm is an essential pre-condition. 

The challenge for clients is determining the extent that a firm is well-managed when the most likely benchmarks, such as interactions with its people and ideas, third-party recommendations, reputation and marketing collateral, are proxies. 

The Awards provide useful insights into the performance of management as the submission process requires robust evidence to back-up claims of excellence. Clients, potential employees and others can then assess the results to determine the extent to which a firm is well-managed.

It is no surprise then that the Awards are well supported, with hundreds of submissions and over 400 senior executives attending a gala dinner and Awards ceremony in London.
