Is your firm well-managed?

18th November 2018 | Beverly Landais

I am delighted to once again to serve as a judge for the Managing Partners’ Forum Awards. The Forum created its annual Awards in 2002 to help leaders and management teams at professional firms demonstrate their vital contribution to the business in four critical areas:

  • Leadership and strategy
  • The client journey
  • Operational excellence
  • Responsible business

As background, the FT/MPF Study into effective client-adviser relationships confirms that, when selecting an adviser, the impression of being a well-managed firm is an essential pre-condition.

The challenge for clients is determining the extent that a firm is well-managed when the most likely benchmarks, such as interactions with its people and ideas, third-party recommendations, reputation and marketing collateral, are proxies.

The Awards provide useful insights into the performance of management as the submission process requires robust evidence to back-up claims of excellence. Clients, potential employees and others can then assess the results to determine the extent to which a firm is well-managed.

It is no surprise then that the Awards are well supported, with hundreds of submissions and over 400 senior executives attending a gala dinner and Awards ceremony in London.

If you believe that your firm has excelled in leadership and strategy, the client journey, operational excellence or responsible business then consider applying for an Award.

Submissions are accepted online until 30 November 2018.

"Beverly has a lovely personality and such a wonderful way of effortlessly building rapport to get to the heart of my situation - an absolute masterclass. It was clear from the start she had a tremendous breadth and depth of knowledge & experience and provided me with invaluable resources. Especially helpful was the use of the Strengths Profile that deepened my perception and awareness of myself. I felt agreeably compelled to work hard to change my behaviours to help me clarify and set personal and professional goals. I already see the benefits in a little under 6-months. I unreservedly recommend Beverly to anyone who is serious about moving forward in any aspect of their life."

Jack McLeish, Security & Defence Sector

She has a warm and inclusive approach which, when wedded to her strong knowledge and insight, can drive excellent results. Beverly provides wise counsel and sound advice and guidance that is informed by many years of experience operating and managing at the highest level in professional services"

Owen Williams, Head of Practices and Markets - Simmons & Simmons

"The senior management team workshop led by Beverly was clearly focused, extremely practical and highly participative. Those attending commented positively on her communication style and ability to facilitate open and productive conversations. The participants were impressed with Beverly’s follow-up after the workshop. She supplied very useful handouts that are enabling people to maximise the benefits gained from the experience. "

Alice Didier, European Director - Laboratoire Aguettant

"I have dealt with a number of executive coaches in the course of managing a large legal practice. I rate Beverly extremely highly and as one of the best. Her calm, supportive style enables her to quickly build relationships with candidates which enables them to make the most out of their time with her and her incisive analysis identifies the real issues to be addressed.
